As we wrote before, members of Radio Club Croatian Flora Fauna planned to operate from Republic of Kosovo (including protected areas), between May 14 – 21, 2018. Thanks to Mr. Fazli Shalla, Senior Officer for Assignment and Supervision, from Regulatory Authority of Electronic and Postal Communications (Autoriteti Rregullator i Komunikimeve Elektronike dhe Postare / ARKEP), we have got Z6 licences (Z68AA & Z68RBJ) and could start with preparing our small expedition. Look at our foto galery with description on English and Croatian language. Sorry for possible grammar errors.

Fazli ShallaSenior Officer for Assignment and Supervision, pri Regulatory Authority of Electronic and Postal Communications (Autoriteti Rregullator i Komunikimeve Elektronike dhe Postare / ARKEP), dobili smo Z6 licence (Z68AA & Z68RBJ) i mogli smo početi s pripremama za našu malu ekspediciju. Pogledajte fotogaleriju.

As you can see, we flew from Zagreb to Skopje (Macedonia), took rent-a-car on the airport and continue 200 km to Kosovo (City of Pejë).
The biggest our problem is the limit on the weight of luggage we could take. The limit was 35 kg, and for all over it must be additional paid. We did not have any sponsors, so we restricted ourselves to wire anetnnas and one fiberglass mast. One mast awaited us in Pristina but we did not have time to go there to pick up it.

Look for imaginative antenna “system” for our ham Z6 shack of dream nr 1!

About 30 m from Chack no 1 (TS-480 SAT) we had Chack No 2, (TS-480) with wire antennas for 20, 40 and 80m. Originaly, we did not bring any antenna fro 24 MHZ. After lot of questions as Can you make QSY on 12 m, the first day we made simple anetnna for that band. Simple antenna + good propagation on 12m = a lot of pleasure!

The problem how to raise the middle of that antenna we solved as you can see on the picture: We put together two branches of 3m and fixed them by plastic ties! It works excellent!

Murphy never sleeps! During second day we lost electricity (current). All houses in our village. Our host told us that is normal. We were very dissatisfied and we could not sleep the next night. Next 24 hours we use accu battery of our rent-a-car. Although the car was on, the next day we could not start it. Every problem people in Kosovo solved with smile! Early in the morning our host bring new generator (800 W). We tried to pay – but no chance… (Actual currency in Rep. of Kosovo is Euro).

Z68AA (SSB) listened in Croatia on 28.450 KHz:

Z68AA (CW) listened in Germany on 24.900 KHz:

(Military rules: If someone deliberately makes a QRM, you must not show that you are bothered.)

Z68AA (SSB) listened in Germany on 24.940 KHz:

Z68RBJ listened in Italy on 3,694 KHz:

Problem kako podići sredinu antene riješili smo kao što možete vidjeti na slici: Spojili smo dvije grane od 3m i pričvrstili ih plastičnim vezicama i postavili uz postojeći stup! Funkcioniralo je izvrsno!

Murphy nikada ne spava! Tijekom drugog dana nestalo je struje. U cijelom selu. Rano ujutro naš domaćin donosi osmijeh i novi agregat (800 W). Pokušali smo platiti – ali nema šanse… (valuta na Kosovu je euro…).

Activities from protected area of Republic of Kosovo

As we know Martti (OH2BH) and group, few months ago, made over 100K QSOs from Kosovo (one month the Z60A crew changed like in basketball!), we are very, very satisfied with our 5340 QSOs!
We have responded to all direct requests (Z68AA) received by mail or through ClubLog (until June 1, 2018).
